Hey Girl Hey!

I'm Javonne Crumby, creator of Lesbionyx-- A space for queer women of color. As a Black woman who loves women, I grew tired of the lack of representation and resources for women like me. So I created a platform for us and by us, because no one tells our stories like us!

You Got the Juice: 5 Smoothie Recipes That (Will Make You) Taste Great

You Got the Juice: 5 Smoothie Recipes That (Will Make You) Taste Great

Hello again folks, oh how I have missed you! Today I want to talk candidly on wellness in a way that is rarely discussed. Yes, the opposite of DJ Khalid’s taste pallet, we are talking about vaginal health.

They don’t want you to taste great! So what are we going to do?— Be a scrumptious snack!

Seriously, vaginal health is so important for your self care and when engaging with a partner. I began my journey with healthy eating and juicing around 2013 when I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). I found that hormonal imbalances and weight gain could be inevitable if I did not find more than a fad diet but actually change my lifestyle.

I began to incorporate immense amounts of fruits and veggies in my daily routine, and cutting out sodas and synthesized sugars. I found that cooking with greens, orange, pinks and purples turns the monotonous act into an art form. Due to the fact that I love fruit so much, I decided to start making smoothies— and I couldn’t stop.

They were such a wonderful way to start my day with a smile and kept me feeling (and tasting sweet). Here are some of my favorite recipes:

“Sandia Smoothie”

1 cup milk (regular or plant based)
3 slices of seedless watermelon
3 tablespoons of greek yogurt (I like to use vanilla)
1 cup of ice
1 dark chocolate Hershey’s Kiss
6 mint leaves

Blend to your desired consistency. I prefer icy chunks with my NutriBullet.

Benefits:
The greek yogurt balances your PH and can prevent UTI’s (urinary tract infections) and yeast infections. Watermelon is great for water and a great source of vitamin C. The mint will leave your breath smelling fresh.

To thicken your smoothies consistencies add yogurt. To thin add milk.

Fresh fruit is best and add minimal sugar for best results. Get creative and make the juice and smoothies your own!
