Hey Girl Hey!

I'm Javonne Crumby, creator of Lesbionyx-- A space for queer women of color. As a Black woman who loves women, I grew tired of the lack of representation and resources for women like me. So I created a platform for us and by us, because no one tells our stories like us!

 UNITED STATES, DIVIDED SYSTEM

We’re United States, yet divided people

equally spread out under 1 system

A system that unequally distributes decisions

based on stereotypical judgments by individuals

that commonly lead 2 prison, poverty, and blurred vision

Isn’t, it funny, how we’re United yet divided under 1 system

Imprisoned by rats, snakes that slither, intoxicated livers

boxed in by perceptions of misconceptions, misunderstood beliefs

terrorist objections, burnt like convections

flooded by negative thoughts and images like victims

Isn’t, it ironic,  how we’re United yet divided under 1 system

plagiarized by officials, exploited like diamonds and missiles

pulled apart like caught fishes --- wishes

4 some human minds not to be so negatively gifted

with ideas that lead to this division

from slavery to welfare children

civil rights to an uncivil system

lies that leave us in missionary positions,

often afraid of homosexuals decisions

Isn’t, it crazy,  how we’re United yet divided under 1 system

welfare for most of us, health care for the rest

it’s best not to think of biased IQ tests

military vets not left with any benefits yet

fit into the category of the unfit

in a country that could give a shit

about police brutality and poverty stricken children

 living in high risk

Isn’t, it unfair, how we’re United yet divided under 1 system

judged by the color of our skin, forced to conform to rules as women

caught in the crossfire between beliefs of the dead and living

confused like ignorant children,

disassembled like a new toy on Christmas,

watched like hawks in prison,

valued like a child working a diamond mine

in an African village

Isn’t, it funny, how we’re United yet divided under 1 system

classified as either criminals or victims

separated by gender or ethnicity

specifically it’s difficult to live individually

yet toleration is not coming so easily

we can deepen the hate or heal the pain

either way we need 2 make a change

so if u feel this poem

like I felt it flow from my hand

then get up, speak up, and take a stand.---RS.
