"Ambidextrous": A Poem by Royce Hall
Ambidextrous by Royce Hall (Chinyelu Alimayu)
Write for me. Write of me. Do right by me. When there's nothing left
But memory. And legacy. And feeling.
Write for me. Write of me. Do right by me. When all that's left
On Are porch lights and the remaining setting of the sun.
Write for me. Write of me. Do right by me. When all has left
But thought and breeze and smiles upon faces
Where cheeks are stained by tears.
Write what's left of me. Right what's left of me. All that was of me. First nature.
Write for me. Tell the stories left on the lips. Of hushed hearts and mouths.
The quieted screams. The joyous occasions. The movement of revolution and revelation.
Write for me. With resilience and passion. Strength and devotion.
Write for me. Write of me. Do right by me.
All will never be told but none should be overlooked.
Tell of as many journeys as possible.
When my sun sets. Write for me
When my words are all that's left of me
Do right by me. Speak for those left
